Rules & Regulation

Attendance :

Under the University Regulations, a student must attend at least 75 percent of the total number of lectures delivered in each subject and 60 percent of the tutorials in order to be eligible for appearing in the University examination as a regular student.

No student will be allowed to appear at the College and University Examinations unless he/she attains the requisite percentage of attendance in the classes as laid down by the College and University authorities.

The College reserves the right to deny promotion to students to the next higher class or send them up to the University examination, if they fail to attend at least 75% of the teaching periods during the academic session(s).

 

Examinations :


Apart from Terminal, Half-Yearly, Annual, Pre Test, Test examination, class tests are held regularly, particularly for Honours students, the results of which are taken into consideration at the time of class promotion and permission to appear in the University examinations. Each department aims at two tutorial classes per Honours Paper per week and one seminar per subject every month.

 

Academic Schedule :


2007 :

November : Class Test

December : Class Test

2008 :

January : Class Test

February : Class Test

 

 

Promotion :

Promotion of the students will be in accordance to the norms laid down by the college authority.Under no circumstances will supplementary examination be allowed.

Extension Lecture :

Extension lectures on different subjects by eminent scholars and renowned personalities are periodically arranged by the college. 'The Teachers' Council Hosts seminars and slide shows(academics too.)Also individual departments hold seminars(subject-specified).Particularly of the student and mostly by the student of that department.Maharaja Manindra Chandra Nandy Memorial Extension Lecture is held annually on 12th November,the death anniversary of the Maharaja.

Discipline :

Special attention of the students is drawn to the following violation
of college discipline :

(a) Unmannerly conduct inside the college premises.

(b) Damaging or defacing college property.

(c) Talking or creating disturbances inside / outside the class.

(d) Impersonation during roll call.

(e) Loitering on the corridors.

(f) Sitting on the staircase.

(g) Smoking inside the college campus.

Severe steps are liable to be taken in case of any breach of discipline. Gross misconduct may be penalised with immediate expulsion / transfer.

Identity cards must be in possession of the students while on the college premises.
