Netaji Subhas Open University :

 
Maharaja Manindra Chandra College Study Centre

Netaji Subhas Open University was extablished in 1997 by passing a special Act in the State Legislature of West Bengal. It is a State Open University. Initially the aim of the Government was to spread distance education throughout the State of West Bengal to reach the unreach. In 2003 the Act has been suitably amended to enable the University to endeavour and take education to the other parts of the country. Now the University is going to offer its various Courses also outside West Bengal.

Vision & Mission of Netaji Subhas Open University

Vision:

Netaji Subhas Open University, the state university of West Bengal, will contribute to the building up of quality human resource base of the State and collaboration with other open universities of the national and state levels towards the improvement of the quality of distance education and to promote and develop appropriate technology to create the distance education scenario of an international standard in our country keeping in view of the demands of the knowledge seekers for education appropriate to the twenty first century.

Mission:

To spread higher education in different parts of the state and corporate with universities to provide access to higher education and to different skill enhancing educational programmes Netaji Subhas Open University shall :

  • provide quality education in a flexible mode to serve the aim of establishing an equitable knowledge society within the state, provide higher educational through distance learning through the language of the state, i.e. Bengali
  • make education affordable to disadvantaged
  • provide facility for lifelong education to intending learners
  • strive for upgradation of technology without compromising the basic values of the society
  • contribute to the development of the state and the nation and motivate learners to strive for secular, scientific and democratic education.

STUDY CENTRES :

At present the University has 76 (seventy six) Study Centres throughout West Bengal. Through these Study Centres the University runs Post Graduate, Under Graduate (Arts, Commerce and Science), Vocational and Professional Courses. Out of these, 8 (eight) Study Centres conduct exclisively Vocational Courses while 3 (three) Study Centres conduct exclusively Professional Courses.

Maharaj Manindra Chandra College Study Centre is one of the leading Study Centres imparting education to the society at large form the very inseption of the University.

Admission :

Admission schedule will be notified in the newspaper before the commencement of the session. Information brochurewith enrolment from will be available from the office of some designated study centre of the University as mentioned in the advertisement on Saturdays and Sundays during office hours of the Study Centre.

Completed enrolment from along with prescribed fees is to be submitted to the sudy centre within the last date announced. Applications may be received beyond stipulated last date on payment of late fee of Rs. 50/-. The fees are to be submitted by demand draft payable to Netaji Subhas Open University ................ College/ Mahavidyalaya study centre quoting its bank account number. Applicant should write his/her full name, application serial number on the reverse of the draft.

Academic Curriculum of our Study Centre :

1. B.D.P. (Bachelor's Degree Programme) : Duration : 3 years.
The University offers this course at the undergraduate level in all the streams (Arts/Science/Commerce) leading to B.A., B.Sc., B.Com. degrees. The following elective subjects are offered at the Hons. level at our study centre.

B.A.: Bengali, English, History, Sociology, Economics, Political Science, Public Administration

B.Sc.: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Geography

B.Com.: Accountancy

Eligibily : 10 + 2 Passed.

2. Post Graduate Course : Duration 2 years

M.A.: Bengali, English, Political Science

M.Sc.: Mathematics

Eligibility : Graduate of any recognised University

3. Post Graduate Diploma Course : Duration : 1 year.

  1. Journalism and Mass Communication
  2. Co-operation

Eligibility : Graduate of any recognised University

4. Diploma Course in Consumer Affairs : Duration : 1 Year

Eligibily : 10 + 2 Passed.

5. Certificate Course on 'Human Rights' : Duration : 6 months.

Eligibily : 10 + 2 Passed.

6. B.P.P. (Bachelor's Preparatory Programme); Duration 6 months.

Eligibily : No qualification bar

These who pass B.P.P. will be eligible to take admission in B.D.P. of Netaji Subhas Open University.

Student Support Services :

  1. Counselling Programme : Counselling on different subjects are held at the stidy centre on Saturdays & Sundays for the learners of B.D.P. (Bachelor's Preparatory Programme). Renowned Professor of ...... and Universities are counsellors of our study centre.
  2. Personal Contact Programme (PCP) : For post graduate learners are held at our study centre from time to time. Professors of various Universities, Professionals and media .... are invited for counselling in the programme.
  3. Interactive Radio Counselling : The University broadcasts different subjects on 4th Sundays of every month .... All India Radio. After form the regular classes various .... on Awareness Programme, Student Support Services, Special Programme of National Importance are also broadcast. Interested lessions ......... live programme.
  4. F-M Channel - Gyan Vani: Various .... on different subjects are broadcast through Gyan Vani Educational FM Channel (105.4 MHz.) of Netaji Subhas Open University as master of Institution of Indira Gandhi National Open University. The programme is held everyday (except Saturdays & Sundays) for two hours each in the morning (7 AM to 9 AM) and evening (6 PM to 8 PM). Special Programme are also transmitted on auspecious days.
  5. Pre-admission Counsellings : Pre-admission counselling takes place at various study centres for ..................... proper guidance and advice to the intending leasons.
