Manindra Chandra College Study Centre
Netaji Subhas Open University
was extablished in 1997 by passing a special
Act in the State Legislature of West Bengal.
It is a State Open University. Initially
the aim of the Government was to spread
distance education throughout the State
of West Bengal to reach the unreach. In
2003 the Act has been suitably amended to
enable the University to endeavour and take
education to the other parts of the country.
Now the University is going to offer its
various Courses also outside West Bengal.
Vision & Mission
of Netaji Subhas Open University
Vision:
Netaji Subhas Open University,
the state university of West Bengal, will
contribute to the building up of quality
human resource base of the State and collaboration
with other open universities of the national
and state levels towards the improvement
of the quality of distance education and
to promote and develop appropriate technology
to create the distance education scenario
of an international standard in our country
keeping in view of the demands of the knowledge
seekers for education appropriate to the
twenty first century.
Mission:

in different parts of the state and corporate
with universities to provide access to higher
education and to different skill enhancing
educational programmes Netaji Subhas Open
University shall :
- provide quality education in a flexible
mode to serve the aim of establishing
an equitable knowledge society within
the state, provide higher educational
through distance learning through the
language of the state, i.e. Bengali
- make education affordable to disadvantaged
- provide facility for lifelong education
to intending learners
- strive for upgradation of technology
without compromising the basic values
of the society
- contribute to the development of the
state and the nation and motivate learners
to strive for secular, scientific and
democratic education.
STUDY CENTRES :
At present the University has 76 (seventy
six) Study Centres throughout West Bengal.
Through these Study Centres the University
runs Post Graduate, Under Graduate (Arts,
Commerce and Science), Vocational and Professional
Courses. Out of these, 8 (eight) Study Centres
conduct exclisively Vocational Courses while
3 (three) Study Centres conduct exclusively
Professional Courses.

imparting education to
the society at large form the very inseption
of the University.
Admission :
Admission schedule will be notified in
the newspaper before the commencement of
the session. Information brochurewith enrolment
from will be available from the office of
some designated study centre of the University
as mentioned in the advertisement on Saturdays
and Sundays during office hours of the Study
Centre.
Completed enrolment from along with prescribed
fees is to be submitted to the sudy centre
within the last date announced. Applications
may be received beyond stipulated last date
on payment of late fee of Rs. 50/-. The
fees are to be submitted by demand draft
payable to Netaji Subhas Open University
................ College/ Mahavidyalaya
study centre quoting its bank account number.
Applicant should write his/her full name,
application serial number on the reverse
of the draft.

is held everyday (except Saturdays &
Sundays) for two hours each in the morning
(7 AM to 9 AM) and evening (6 PM to 8
PM). Special Programme are also transmitted
on auspecious days.
